You've tried the classes. You've watched the videos. Your dog still pulls you down the street, ignores you at the park, or loses it every time another dog walks by. At some point, a lot of Las Vegas owners start asking the same question: should my dog just go live with a trainer for a few weeks?
That's what a board and train is. Your dog stays with a professional trainer, trains every day, and comes home with new skills. But the good programs don't stop there, and the details matter more than most people realize.
Here's what actually happens during a board and train with Tahoe & Co, and how to tell if it's the right fit for your dog.
What a board and train actually is
In a board and train, your dog lives and trains with us. Training isn't a one-hour session a week. It's built into every part of the day: walks, meals, downtime, new places, and plenty of real-world practice.
That daily repetition is the point. Dogs learn through consistency. When the same expectations show up every hour of every day, progress that might take months of weekly lessons can happen in weeks.
What we work on
Our two obedience programs build on each other.
On-Leash Program (21 days): reliable on-leash obedience, engagement, household manners, and clear communication between you and your dog.
Off-Leash Program (28 days): our most comprehensive program. It builds dependable off-leash reliability in real-world environments, along with advanced obedience, impulse control, and engagement.
We also offer a 14-day Show Dog Training program for owners preparing for the conformation ring, focused on stacking, gaiting, ring confidence, and handling.
The part most programs skip: training you
Here's the honest truth about board and trains. A dog can come home perfectly trained and fall apart in two weeks. Not because the training didn't work, but because nothing at home changed.
That's why every Tahoe & Co board and train includes private lessons for you. The On-Leash Program includes two lessons during your dog's stay and two follow-up lessons once they're home. The Off-Leash Program includes three of each.
In those lessons, Lilli shows you exactly how your dog has been taught: the cues, the timing, and what to do when your dog tests you. The goal is a dog who listens to you, not just to her.

Is board and train right for your dog?
Board and train tends to be a great fit when:
Your dog has habits that are hard to break at home, like pulling, jumping, or ignoring recall
You want off-leash reliability you can actually trust
Your schedule makes daily structured training hard to keep up
You want a strong foundation fast, with support afterward
It may not be the best first step if you'd rather learn hands-on from day one. In that case, private lessons might suit you better. Our Day Train Program is another option: your dog trains with us during the day and comes home every evening.
You don't have to figure this out alone. Every program starts with a free evaluation, where Lilli meets your dog and recommends the path that fits.
What it costs
We believe in clear pricing. Our board and train programs are:
On-Leash Program: 21 days, $3,150
Off-Leash Program: 28 days, $4,200
Show Dog Training: 14 days, $1,400
The price includes your dog's stay, daily training, and the private lessons listed above.
What to look for in any board and train
Whether you train with us or someone else, ask these questions before you book:
Will I be taught how to handle my dog? If the answer is no, results rarely last.
Are follow-up lessons included? The weeks after your dog comes home matter most.
Where will my dog actually train? Real-world practice beats a single backyard.
Can I see the trainer's own dogs or past clients' dogs work? Results should be visible.
The bottom line
A board and train isn't about handing your dog off. It's about giving them an intensive, structured start, and then making sure you can carry it forward.
